Supreme Court refuses permission to appeal in Lawrence v Gallagher

Civil partnership financial remedy appeal fails

The Supreme Court has refused permission to appeal in Lawrence v Gallagher. The Court, comprising Lady Hale, Lord Kerr and Lord Reed, considered that the case did not raise a point of law of general public importance.

The Court of Appeal has allowed an appeal by Peter Lawrence, a financial analyst at JP Morgan, against a financial remedy award made by Mrs Justice Parker to Mr Lawrence's former civil partner, Donald Gallagher, an actor.
