Guidance published on age assessment

‘Age assessment of unaccompanied children seeking asylum is a challenging process,’ says ADCS

The Association of Directors of Children's Services has published Guidance to assist social workers and their managers in undertaking age assessments in England. The document is intended to enable proper age assessments to be carried out so that local authorities know whether an applicant for services is a 'child', i.e. under 18, to whom they might owe a duty under the Children Act 1989.
