Gwynneth Knowles QC appointed to the High Court bench

Appointment to take effect from 2 October 2017 on Sir Peter Jackson's elevation to the Court of Appeal

Gwynneth Knowles QC has been appointed to be a Justice of the High Court with effect from 2 October 2017 as a consequence of the elevation of Sir Peter Jackson to the Court of Appeal.

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Gwynneth Knowles to the Family Division.

Gwynneth Knowles, aged 55, will be known as The Honourable Mrs Justice Gwynneth Knowles. She was called to the Bar (G) in 1993 and took Silk in 2011. She was appointed as a fee-paid Tribunal Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Health, Education and Social Care Chamber in 2007, as a salaried Judge of the Upper Tribunal, Administrative Appeals Chamber in 2014 and authorised to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2016. She formerly practised from Atlantic Chambers.

Sir Peter Jackson, aged 61, was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1978 and took silk in 2000. He was appointed as a Recorder in 1998, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2003, as a High Court Judge in the Family Division in October 2010 and will be appointed as a Lord Justice of Appeal on 2 October 2017.
