Launch of IFLAS – International Family Law Arbitration Scheme

New innovative arbitration scheme launched

A new international arbitration scheme has been launched at the 16th Australian Family Lawyers Conference, held in Fiji.
Professor. Patrick Parkinson and David Hodson OBE, two leading international family lawyers, launched 'The International Family Law Arbitration Scheme' (IFLAS).  It has been designed to help international families and is intended to avoid long and expensive forum litigation and to help couples work out where any family differences should be resolved by ascertaining with which country they have the closest connection.
Its website is now live:  and has details of the initial arbitrators working in the Scheme and the digital forms for participants to start the process.
