Bill to extend civil partnerships to heterosexual couples receives second reading

On 2 February 2018 the Civil Partnerships, Marriages and Deaths (Registration Etc.) Bill received an unopposed second reading.
The Bill, sponsored by Tim Loughton, the former children minister, makes provision for opposite sex couples to enter a civil partnership; to permit the registration of the names of the mother of each party to a marriage or civil partnership; to make provision about the registration of stillborn deaths; and to give coroners the power to investigate stillborn deaths.
