Some holiday reading for family lawyers ...

There are few novels where the practice of family law is central to the story. In 2014 there was, of course, The Children Act by Ian McEwan – for The Family Law Week review, click here. But not many besides.

You may be interested in a novel that has recently appeared on Kindle and which has a strong family law theme. It is called The Water is Warm by a previously unknown author, Jennifer Stawska. It tells the tale of a barrister who represents a mother successfully in public law proceedings and, having formed a relationship with her and discovered that some of her evidence was untrue, crashes out of the bar and ends up in a same-sex relationship with a Swede in civil war-torn Sri Lanka.

It has received all five-star reviews on Amazon. Readers' reviews there refer to it as 'beautifully written', 'captivating' and 'brilliant'.
