Mostyn J lifts ban on Telegraph’s reporting of private law children case

Reporting justified by the need for transparency in the family courts

Mr Justice Mostyn has granted an application by The Sunday Telegraph for the discharge of an injunction preventing the reporting of a case involving the arrangements for children of a divorced couple.

The Sunday Telegraph argued that the order prevented the reporting of proceedings which were "clearly in the public interest".

Mostyn J said that he was lifting the injunction "because the emphasis should be on transparency" in the courts.

The judgment has not been seen by Family Law Week but a report of the proceedings can be read in The Sunday Telegraph here.
