Local authorities’ assessment of children in need has improved

Children and families 'receiving the right help and support at the right time' more often

Ofsted's social care annual report 2012/13 states that the overall quality of assessments for children in need had improved in most local authorities visited.

The report explores factors that drive or limit effectiveness of assessment, drawing on evidence from 123 tracked cases from ten local authorities.
