Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 receives Royal Assent

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 received Royal Assent on 13 November 2008.

The Act amends the 1990 Act and makes changes 

"about the persons who in certain circumstances are to be treated in law as the parents of a child; and for connected purposes"

including the meaning of mother and father in cases involving assisted reproduction and a schedule concerning the storage of gametes.
