Non-molestation applications down since 2002

Findings published in LSC funded review of domestic violence literature

The Legal Services Commission has published a review of domestic violence literature to examine trends in applications for non-molestation applications.

The review, carried out by Mandy Burton of the University of Leicester, sought to

"investigate whether applications for non-molestation orders in domestic abuse cases are declining and, if so, what factors may be influencing the decline"

The key findings include, among others, that:

Out of these findings, several recommendations are put forward including a call for specialisation, as is happening in the criminal justice system, and LSC funding for practitioners to attend accredited domestic violence training.
