New Guidance published on preparation for Care Proceedings

Guidance published by Ministry of Justice and DCSF

A new guide detailing best practice in preparing for care and supervision proceedings has been issued by the Ministry of Justice and the DCSF.

The guidance is not statutory, nor is it prescriptive in that it simply

"describes the processes involved; the respective roles of those involved; tackles some of the most difficult and frequently raised areas of uncertainty; and provides examples of good practice."

It is intended for use by all professionals involved in care proceedings, including the lawyers acting for the children, the local authority and the parents. It is presented in two parts: the first covering the pre-proceedings stages up to the application and the second following the proceedings through to disposal of the application and conclusion of the proceedings.

The guidance is available for download on Family Law Week here.
