Michelle Young set to cross-examine business leaders in final hearing of financial remedy proceedings

Final hearing set for later this month

Michelle Young has been given permission to cross-examine some of the country's best known business leaders including Sir Philip Green, the owner of Topshop, on witness statements they have made in the financial remedy proceedings against her former husband, Scot Young.

The Independent reports that it had been argued on behalf of Mr Young that his 'friends and sponsors' had provided witness statements and their evidence should not be challenged.  Mr Justice Moor said that would amount to a 'ridiculous situation' and added: "I consider it almost inconceivable that she would not be able to challenge them… If these people are saying that they funded Mr Young then she is entitled to cross-examine them."

In January Mr Justice Moor jailed Scot Young for a 'flagrant' contempt of court for failing to comply with court orders for disclosure.

The final hearing is set for later this month.
