Proposals for Bill of Rights to be published this autumn
‘Greater authority for the Supreme Court’ sought
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice, Dominic Raab, has advised the House of Commons that the Ministry of Justice plans to bring forward proposals for a Bill of Rights this autumn.
He said that the proposals would be subject to "full consultation. The preparation is going well."
He added:
"We want to see greater authority for the Supreme Court—the Labour Government set up the Supreme Court and we do not think that it should be subordinated—and a greater respect for the legislative role of hon. Members in this place."
