Central Family Court withdraws local practice direction restricting guardians’ attendance

Nagalro welcomes decision

Nagalro has welcomed the withdrawal of the local practice direction in the Central Family Court restricting the court attendance of the children's guardian in all proceedings in which the child is a party. In a letter to Bindmans Solicitors, endorsed by the President of the Family Division, HHJ Robin Tolson QC, the designated family judge, says that the practice direction had been intended to make guardians' 'lives easier' but states that he is happy to withdraw it.

HHJ Tolson QC's reply was in response to a 19 page letter from Bindmans, setting out Nagalro's objections to the practice direction. Bindmans' letter is here. HHJ Tolson QC's reply is here.
