Mother of murder victim calls for domestic abuse register

The mother of Jayden Parkinson, who was killed by her partner, Ben Blakeley, has called for  people who commit domestic abuse to be placed on a register. Samantha Shrewsbury told the BBC that a system similar to the sex offenders register might have saved her daughter. Blakeley had a history of abuse against previous partners.

A Home Office spokesperson responded:

"The landmark Domestic Abuse Bill will strengthen the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme, or Clare's Law, which allows the police to disclose information on request about a person's domestic abuse history."
