Lord Chancellor questioned on Human Rights Act reforms

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights has questioned the Secretary of State for Justice on the Government's aims for its human rights review and the impact any reforms could have on the protection of rights in the UK. They also asked questions relating to the Governments plans to reform administrative law, including changes to judicial review.

On 8 July 2021 the Committee published a report that highlighted the positive impact of the Human Rights Act and warned that Government plans to amend it could constitute a risk to the UK's constitutional settlement and to the enforcement of human rights.
