DWP introduces new cost-of-living payment for eight million households
On 15 June 2022, the Department for Work and Pensions announced that over eight million low-income households are to benefit from a new 'cost-of-living' payment from 14 July.
The new 'cost-of-living' payment comes in two instalments which total £650. The first payment will be made on 14 July 2022 and the second will come on a date to be confirmed in the Autumn.
All households on benefits will receive the cost-of-living payment. This includes recipients of Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Pension Credit. The payment is tax-free, does not count towards the benefit cap and will not have any impact on existing benefit awards.
