Media should be excluded from family hearings involving celebrities' children, QC argues

Celebrity couple in court to prevent media coverage

The Guardian has reported on what it describes as the "first big challenge" to media access in family hearings. A coalition of media organisations is attempting to overturn a blanket ban on reporting of the proceedings between a man described as having "celebrity status and a highly-publicised lifestyle" and his ex-partner. The proceedings concern their child.

Nigel Spearman QC, acting for the celebrity, is reported to have argued that

"In family law cases concerning the children of celebrities … the media should be excluded from the hearings altogether,"
