Imerman - Court of Appeal refuses permission to appeal to the Supreme Court

Master of the Rolls acknowledges the importance of the issues raised

In a hearing before the Court of Appeal on Friday afternoon, leave was sought for permission to appeal the Court's judgment to the Supreme Court.

Although permission was refused, the Master of the Rolls acknowledged that the case raised important issues in respect of which the Supreme Court might well wish to grant permission to appeal. However, leave would have to be sought from the Supreme Court itself. Various orders and directions were given consequent upon the judgment on Thursday.

The judgment in the Court of Appeal and a summary, written by Christopher Pocock QC, can be read here.
