Council pays £1m damages to four siblings for child abuse failings

Community Care considers the implications for other victims

Essex County Council has paid damages of almost £1m to four siblings who suffered years of parental abuse, Community Care has reported. The Council was told of allegations of sexual abuse by the father of the children in 1990. It then discovered that he had been convicted of abusing the children of a former marriage. He was subsequently permitted to have further contact with the children.
